Chapter 20
AURORA.
My eyelids briefly fluttered opened and then closed back the next morning as I stretched my body languidly on the queen-sized bed that felt softer than a baby’s bum and felt like heaven.
Queen-sized? Hold on a minute.
I snapped my eyes open, blinking. I was not in my room. I tried to recall the events of the past night and now I came to—
Nathaniel. The storm. His penthouse. Alcohol.
I jerked upright, wondering how I’d gotten to bed. I didn’t remember falling asleep. Had he carried me here? Looking down, I saw that I was still in my clothes from last night, thank God. Other than a slight headache from the alcohol, I felt fine.
It was Saturday, which meant neither of us had to go into work today. I was glad, because the alarm clock on the bedside table said 8:30 AM and going to the office with the same clothes I had on last night would make for very juicy office gossip and God knew any more of that and I would go mad.
