CHAPTER TWENTY SEVEN THE BIDDING
Bella raised an eyebrow.
“And which fool told you that?” she asked her best friend.
Kate shrugged. “Do I need to be told? Anyone with two eyes can see that,” Kate replied.
Bella rolled her eyes. “I didn't see anything like that. The only thing I saw was that you had too much drink.”
Kate sighed. She didn't speak again. A taxi had pulled up anyway, so she had to wait till they got inside if she wanted to speak.
When they got inside, Kate rested her head on Bella's shoulders. Bella frowned. She could sense that her friend's mood has soured.
“What's the matter?” Bella asked.
Kate sighed. “Is anything the matter? I'm alright.”
Bella shook her head, clearly not in agreement with her best friend. But if Kate didn't want to tell her what the problem was, Bella wouldn't pry.
However, Bella has a hunch she knew what it was about. For some reason, she felt Kate's sudden sour mood must be related to her brother.
