With her heart heaving from everything she had witnessed, Aryana rushed back to her quarters. Her sisters, her coven, were gone, and the cave had been deserted.
After Victoria's execution, she had hoped, prayed, even, that Veloria would have lingered behind so she could finally talk to her. But once again, fate had been unkind. With each stride, the deep pang of loneliness became heavier in her chest.
Veloria had come dangerously close to Victoria's tragedy. The idea of what might have occurred if Lycoria hadn't stepped in made Aryana cringe.
She owed Lycoria everything, but with that debt came the disturbing knowledge that Aryana had lost her family, at least the kind she could rely on.
