With his elbows resting on the gleaming oak desk before him, Ramin sat in his chambers. It was getting close to night, and the sunlight coming in through the window was starting to cool.
After spending hours practicing archery with his older brothers earlier, his arms ached a little, but it was a pleasant reminder of the work he had done.
Because his brothers were constantly motivating him to aim more accurately, pull the string back farther, and let his arrow fly with confidence, he had liked the competition.
Now as the day was coming to an end, the bustle of the home subsided, and Ramin was left alone in his chambers.
With its straightforward wooden furnishings and a single window overlooking the expansive woods outside the palace, the chamber was small yet cozy.
He sat motionless for a minute, watching the sun set and the sky get darker orange through the window. The trees' darkening shapes blended into the horizon as they swayed in the twilight breeze.
