Darren fell into the snow, his hands turning bright red from the cold. However, he ignored it and quickly grabbed my hand, wiping away the slowly dripping blood from his nose with little care.
I shivered from the cold. His hands were ice-cold, chilling me to the bone. I tried to pull my hand away, but he gripped it even tighter.
Like a protective beast, Darren pulled me behind him and warned Donn in a low voice, "Stay away from her."
He was tall, and I couldn't see Donn's expression over his shoulder, but I heard his amused reply. "She's not an object. She has her own mind.
"What right do you have to warn me? As her discarded ex-boyfriend?"
At that, Darren turned to look at me. While meeting his gaze, I slowly pried his fingers off my wrist, freeing myself from his painful grip.
