Clouds hung high in the sky. It was lunchtime, and my colleagues walked beneath their umbrellas. From my window, all I could see were colorful umbrellas and their short shadows.
The office was deserted, and only Donn and I were left. His expression remained as gentle as ever, but there was a distinct warning in his eyes.

Donn bent over and placed a hand on the desk. His sharp gaze met mine as he asked, "Cassie, do you really understand him?"
My hands on the armrest tightened slightly. Indeed, I had never truly understood Darren. Everything I knew and saw about him was what he allowed.
