Mom pushed me aside. "You sit down. I'm not useless."
Scolded by her, I obediently sat on the couch. The coffee table was already covered with washed fruits and snacks that Mom had specially prepared for me.
"CeeCee, come eat," Mom called me from the dining room.
I replied, "Coming."
The table was set with five dishes in total, all my favorites, still steaming hot. Mom took the freshly reheated barbecued ribs out of the microwave and placed them on the table.
"Okay, the food is ready," she said, sitting down and sliding a plate in front of me.
"It smells amazing."
The aroma instantly awakened my appetite. Under the warm orange glow of the dining room light, my mom scooped a bowl of clam chowder for me and added a piece of chicken drumstick to my already overloaded plate.
"Eat more," Mom said tenderly.
I froze mid-motion. "That's enough, Mom. I can't eat anymore."
