Debra, who was sitting nearby, took one look at the lipstick and quickly grabbed it, smiling. "Mom, this is my lipstick. I was wondering where it went. Turns out I must have dropped it in Alan’s car at some point."
My gaze lingered on the lipstick in Debra's hand, and I instantly understood.
Neither Debra nor I used that brand of lipstick, especially not from the youth-oriented collection it belonged to.
So both Debra and I knew perfectly well that we didn’t own this brand. That’s why Debra quickly claimed the lipstick as hers, to avoid any misunderstanding that might cause discord between Alan and me.
Grandma Hecate chuckled, "I thought it was Aisha’s. But I did think this brand didn’t look like one of the usual ones Aisha uses."
"I didn’t expect it to be yours, Debra. Have you changed your style recently?"
Debra opened the lipstick, glanced at the color, and forced a smile. "Yes, I’ve been feeling nostalgic for my younger days, so I bought a more youthful shade to try out."
