The last thing Evangeline remembered before all had gone black was Gadreel running towards her, the sound of his voice and the feeling of his hand wrapped around her.
However, the next time she came to, the sound of hospital machines beeping, blinding ceiling lights and the pungent smell of disinfectant, was the first thing that greeted her.
She blinked several times, allowing her eyes to adjust to the lighting before her gaze swept around the room.
“Reel,” She called, her throat dry and voice hoarse, and when her eyes fell on his sleeping form, she smiled a little.
He cared so much about her that he stayed while she was unconscious, fitting himself into the couch that looked far too uncomfortable for him.
If that wasn’t true love, then Evangeline wasn’t sure what would be.
Taking another quick look around the room, she assessed the situation. Although she had gotten wounded, she felt fine and well and in the end, it looked like things had turned out to be in her favor.
