Chapter 43: An Old Demon
Mia's POV
Sol sat with me in the living room of his mansion for a long time after we arrived home. I couldn't stop my body from shaking as the realization of who I had seen came crashing down onto me. I had to face reality again. I could not completely escape my past.
He had tried to get me to shower, eat, or even drink some water, but I refused everything he offered. Instead, I just sat there with my knees to my chest and clutched his hand. Something was harrowing about seeing someone from a past you had walked away from.
It was like seeing a ghost but this ghost was alive, and so were you, and there were no places to run or hide.
"Mia," Sol's voice was gentle as he called out to me. I could feel his large hands run through my hair and massage my head. "You have to talk to me. You have to tell me what's wrong so I can help you."
