Jack's condition was much more serious than it appeared.
Jack was still fighting with Primrose in the afternoon. The two elders could scold each other relentlessly until their faces were red. Sage took Jack's side and argued with Primrose for him. Primrose scolded Sage for being an ungrateful child and helping Jack.
Jace listened quietly without saying anything. He knew the mother and daughter were trying to use this way to stabilize Jack's energy and bring him to life.
Jack's end was near. By late afternoon, Jack slumped in the bed drowsily. He was already out of breath and slow to breathe.
"Mom, this isn't working. Let's get him to the hospital."
Sage was already panicking as a doctor. Jack's condition was deteriorating so fast that their way was not working.
Primrose read Jack's pulse again and shook her head with a heavy sigh.
"He has attained his goals and has no desire to live."
Primrose looked over at Florence. "What did Sheila take, and what are they up to?"
