After speaking, Isaiah stopped looking at Audrey and went straight back to the villa. Isaiah felt a growing ache in his heart staring at the photo on the table.
He held the photo for a long time before finally picking up his phone to call Esme's family and friends. Isaiah wanted to ask them if they knew where Esme had gone.
From the first call to the 99th, the answer was always the same—no. In the end, he even swallowed his pride and called his sworn enemy.
Yet aside from receiving his enemy's mocking laughter, the answer remained no. Soon, the people he sent to search for Esme's whereabouts also reported back. No one knew where she was.
Esme seemed to have vanished into thin air, like a wisp of smoke disappearing without a trace. He hung up the phone weakly and sat motionless in the chair through the night.
Meanwhile, Audrey struggled in the operating room for a full day and night before delivering a barely formed baby boy. When she woke up, she saw her mother sitting by the beds
