Chapter 4

Evelyn pushed away the person instinctively. She took a step back and almost fell. Jasper had a heavy expression as he held her. "What happened?" He was hanging out with the people in the private room. Oliver didn't want to speak to him at first, but a while later, Oliver looked for him and said that losing such a good friend to a woman wasn't worth it. Now, Oliver asked him to hang out as well. Jasper didn't expect to collide with Evelyn the moment he arrived. When he lowered his gaze, he saw her curves, and his gaze deepened. He had to admit that she had a great figure, a narrow waist that could be easily held, curves in all the right places, and fair and smooth skin. She was enveloped in the soft glow of the warm lighting, appearing delicate and graceful. Whoever saw her would want a taste of her. However, based on her behavior moments ago, it was clear that she was terrified of something. When Evelyn saw that it was Jasper and not Tyson, she was taken aback. Then, she let out a sigh of relief. At this time, Oliver's voice sounded from the private room, "Jasper, what took you so long? We were all waiting for you." Jasper grunted in response. Then, he let go of Evelyn and entered the private room. Jasper and Oliver had turned into enemies, but now, they seemed to be close again. Evelyn should have expected it. After all, she wasn't enough to make them throw away their long-term friendship. Even though Evelyn didn't take the initiative to contact Jasper and wasn't proactive in pursuing him, she knew he didn't mind it after seeing his cold and aloof expression. As passionate as he was in bed that night, he was just as cold toward her now. For someone like him who stood at the top of the pyramid, a fleeting romance was nothing unusual and not worth taking to heart. Besides, he might have forgotten what he said that day. Evelyn smiled self-deprecatingly and turned to leave. There was a balcony in the north seating area. Many people were smoking or catching some fresh air. When she was about to move forward, someone pulled her to the emergency exit. The man pressed her on the door and restricted her hands. His breath brushed across her ear, igniting fear in her. She raised her leg and was about to kick the man, but the man held her leg. "Why are you so rough?" the man teased. As the light was turned on by the man's voice, Evelyn saw that it was Jasper. "It's you. Why are you here…" "I'm here for a smoke." Evelyn was at a loss for words. "Why are you being so secretive?" Jasper asked but didn't change his position. He maintained the same suggestive stance. In the intimate space, even his emotionless questioning had a hint of lust. When Evelyn was wondering if she should ask him for help, a voice sounded in the corridor outside. Tyson's voice was like a lightning bolt that struck her. "Eve, stop hiding. I saw you. The restroom is in another direction. Come out. I'll bring you there." Tyson's disgusting and creepy voice made Evelyn's stomach churn. She stopped pushing Jasper and looked at him pleadingly. She was hoping he wouldn't push her out the door. Evelyn resisted Jasper's touch moments ago, but now, she had calmed down. She even wanted to hide in his embrace. Looking at Evelyn, who looked like a frightened kitten in his embrace, Jasper raised his eyebrows and stared at her. He had heard of Tyson before. The latter was a building materials supplier who had gotten rich a few years back. He was a pervert and liked to fool around with university students. And considering Evelyn's situation in the Monroe family, it was easy to guess what happened to her. But if she didn't speak up, Jasper wouldn't do her a favor. "What's the matter? Aren't you going to go out? He's looking for you?" Jasper deliberately asked such questions. His breath touched Evelyn's forehead, making her feel itchy. Evelyn clenched her fists and lowered her pride. "Can you help me?" she pleaded softly. Jasper responded, "You only beg me when you're in need, but go radio silence on me when you don't. I'm not a kind person. I'm not someone you can call as you wish, either." Evelyn tried to figure out what Jasper meant. Was he blaming her for not contacting him? She stared at his face for a while before she placed her hands on his chest, touching it gently. Jasper lowered his gaze—now darkened. Her hands seemed even more soft on his chest. Then, she tiptoed and kissed him on the lips. His lips were dry and cold. There was also the smell of tobacco and mint. She didn't plan on coming up with an excuse to trick him. After all, he had been in the business industry for many years. She would die if she tricked him. So, it was better to give him something he wanted. Evelyn could tell that Jasper's gaze wasn't innocent when looking at her. She kissed him carefully and touched his lips on the surface. It didn't require any skills. She sensed that he wasn't having a good time because he was calm and indifferent. He just stared at her and watched her please him. Evelyn was dissatisfied. Was she unattractive to him? She deliberately moved closer to Jasper. When their lips touched one another, she bit his upper lip and sensed that the tempo of his breathing had changed. His dark gaze became darker with lust. But at this moment, she stopped and took a step back. When she had just taken a step back, he grabbed her waist and pulled her toward him again. Then, he lowered his head and kissed her. This time, Jasper was the one in charge, kissing her skillfully. He only took a few seconds to make Evelyn dizzy. He was so overbearing that she was a little short of oxygen. Soon, she leaned on his chest weakly. She felt like she was made of clay. Meanwhile, his breathing became slightly erratic as he changed his position and pressed her back against the door. Now that there was support, his advances became fiercer, and he grew even more relentless. When Jasper finally let Evelyn go, she felt a slight numbness in her lips. They were probably swollen. For some reason, she couldn't help but think that he was punishing her. As she caught her breath, his scent lingered on her. The smell of tobacco and mint didn't disgust her at all. She didn't realize how alluring she looked at the moment. Her eyes were glistening with tears when she looked at him pleadingly. There was a mix of coyness, feigned anger, and vulnerability. The thick tension in the air hadn't fully dissipated when the doorknob was twisted. Jasper remained calm, casually caressing Evelyn's hair and gently tucking her into the corner by the door before opening it. "M-Mr. Richmond?" Jasper's voice carried displeasure. "Why are you shouting?" "I-I'm looking for someone… I must have been mistaken," mumbled Tyson, forcing an awkward smile. Without needing Jasper to say another word, Tyson scurried away. Then, Jasper stepped back inside and closed the door behind him. "Thank you," said Evelyn. Jasper said, "I'll send you back in a bit. Tyson shouldn't bother you anymore now that he saw you with me." Evelyn nodded obediently. Jasper stared at her. She was acting all sweet and innocent, looking so pure and harmless. But in reality, she was a heartless woman who could toy with a man's feelings easily. And in the end, she could still put on that clueless and innocent act. He suddenly thought of Eva, Oliver's current girlfriend. He realized that she somewhat resembled Evelyn. Jasper and Evelyn fell into a brief silence, and the lights suddenly dimmed as they couldn't detect any sounds. There was an eerie stillness in the darkness. Jasper stared at Evelyn with dark eyes. He was full of possessiveness and was like a beast ready to pounce on its prey at any moment. In those silent seconds, Evelyn stood in the dark, feeling Jasper's pressure. Her heart raced and pounded so hard that she felt as if it would leap out of her chest. Then, he took a step closer, his tall figure looming over her.
