I retreated a little and watched the two people standing in the rain. Jocelyn was the one who came out of the red car.
I chuckled bitterly. Who else could it have been?
Aside from Jocelyn, who else would pester Elijah and cry her heart out?
She continued to hold his hand and sobbed. "Say something! Don't be like this, Elijah." She wept for a while before she continued, "I didn't lie to you. I really am pregnant."
I quietly turned on the camera in my phone and pointed it at them. Elijah remained numb, allowing Jocelyn to shake his arm. He gazed through the rain and mist as he looked at the building.
I was aware that Elijah was looking at the unit I lived in. For some reason, something stirred in my heart. It wasn't a heartache, and it didn't make me feel awful. With that said, it was definitely not something that made me feel good.
I heard Elijah's cold voice as he said, "I've told you a long time ago, Jocelyn. It's over between us. Why won't you accept it?"
