Evan's eyes reddened. "I… I was wrong. I shouldn't have treated you that way. I always thought it was you who came between Eli and Josie."
I raised an eyebrow.
Evan quickly corrected himself. "I meant Jocelyn. We're not that close."
I softened my tone. "Did she tell you something?"
Evan nodded. "She came to me and cried for a long time. She said she couldn't forget Eli. She also said… she said you forced them apart. That's what she meant," he explained.
I nodded in understanding. I knew Evan couldn't have hated me that much; someone must have been talking behind my back.
