Vivian secretly checked in on Sebastian, even asking the doctor about his condition. She was disappointed to hear it was just some surface-level injuries and nothing life-threatening.
She sent a message to Roxanne. "I went to check. He's not dead."
Roxanne glanced at the message. She put her phone away without replying. She finished her last sip of drink, paid, and walked out of the bar, her steps unsteady.
Two young men had been keeping an eye on her from the moment she had walked in. After all, she was pretty, drinking alone, and looked vulnerable. Their thoughts quickly took an inappropriate turn, and as soon as she left the bar, they followed her.
She stood at the side of the road as she pulled out her phone to check the time—it was just past 9:00 pm. The streetlight cast halos of light around her, stretching her shadow long on the ground.
