Chapter 64: Hurt and Sadness
Chloe listened to Daniel’s words and decided to chalk it up to him being drunk and talking nonsense. Once he sobered up, she would act like this whole incident had never happened. She also resolved to be more careful in the future and avoid seeing Daniel as much as possible to keep things from becoming more complicated. She didn’t want things to get messy.
“I’ll pretend you’re just drunk and babbling. Don’t say such things again, and I’ll act like I never heard them. Go home, and I’ll leave now,” Chloe said, her tone cold and distant. Compared to their earlier conversations, she didn’t even want to speak to him anymore, making her feelings of rejection clear.
Daniel was surprised by how cold Chloe had become. He had prepared himself for rejection, but he hadn’t expected her to be this adamant. Chloe was giving him no chance at all. He realized he had acted too hastily.
