"I'm sorry, Clara." Wren's voice cracked as he buried his face in his hands. His pain was palpable, and his words trembled with regret. "Whether you believe it or not, I never meant to hurt you."
Clara shook her head gently, her tone resolute but calm. "It doesn't matter anymore. Let's leave it at that. You stay in Phoypolis, I'll stay here.
"We'll both move on. There's no need to see each other again."
"I can't accept that," Wren said, panic rising in his voice. He stepped forward, desperate to bridge the growing chasm between them. "Clara, please don't be so cold-hearted."
However, Clara simply smiled. It was a bittersweet expression that seemed to cut deeper than her words. She stepped backward and out of his reach, and without saying another word, she walked to the door. She then slipped on her shoes, opened the door, and left.
