She was just an eyesore!

Vanessa gracefully stepped down from the car and strode to the court with her head held high while the chilly breeze hitting her made her silky hair flow freely, and she brushed it behind her ear with her slender fingers keeping a gentle expression on her face while all the gazes nearby glanced at her in awe with her dazzling beauty. Her every step displayed her confidence and she had an imposing aura lurking in the shadows, although she appeared tender which made her even more attractive. When her steps finally halted in front of the court, she eyed her watch, and a satisfying curve settled on her lips since she was five minutes earlier than her appointed time. By the time she reached the arena where the divorce cases were handled, she was the only one present, but her eyes roamed across the large queue on the other side where marriage certificates would be issued and a panging pain hit her chest as the realization sunk in that she was really going to get a divorce with Austin Jones! Vanessa stood there with a relaxed expression on her face when she saw there was no trace of Austin since she knew Austin would be there on time because he wasn't the type to be late and she knew him well in the past three years of their married life. "Why wouldn't he when he clearly never loved me and it was his chance to get separated from this troublesome marriage!" Vanessa pondered and a wretched smile settled on her lips but she quickly hid her emotions and appeared calm. When the clock hit nine, the doors of the court opened but Austin Jones was nowhere near her sight yet! She was wondering what was wrong with him because he was a man who valued punctuality a lot, but on that day, he was late! After another fifteen minutes, Vanessa was becoming impatient and began tapping her feet as she was struggling with whether to give him a call or not, but soon heard the clicking sound of leather shoes and involuntarily she tilted her head and found Austin coming into the hall, in his usual custom made suit. His handsome face was cold and emotionless, his hair was perfectly touseled, and not a strand was out of place, his well-trained muscles were hugging his suit, making all the women present in the court hall drool over him as if he had directly landed onto the earth from a fantasy movie. Sensing a sharp glare, he moved his head aside and saw Vanessa from the corner of his eyes and his feet automatically drove to her with his cold eyes while his jawline turned so sharp as if that itself would cut her into pieces. Noticing the aloofness emanating from him, Vanessa remained unaffected. If he eyed her like this a week ago, she would possibly still feel hurt as she had been feeling in the past three years and she had lost count of the number of times she had wasted her valuable tears for him, but not anymore! Vanessa cleared her throat and muttered in a formal tone as if this was just a business deal but not their divorce, "shall we proceed?" Peeping at her calm frame, he frowned with his narrowed gaze, "don't you want to make any changes in the divorce agreement?" Hearing him, she swiftly rejected the idea and immediately blurted out, "nope." With that said, she took out the agreement from her handbag and handed it to Austin. Eyeing the document, his gaze darkened while his hands held the agreement tightly that his knuckles turned white, "are you sure you want to go with this agreement?" Without giving it a second thought, she replied monotonously in her crisp tone, "yes." She was foolish back then and married him in a hurry without considering all the odds but now she wasn't the same and she wouldn't do it wilfully if she hadn't thought of everything! Listening to her unwavering response, he scowled while his lips were pressed into a thin line, "alright then. If that was what you wanted, we can finish the formalities." After the words left his mouth, he mused, "you were the one who proposed it. So, don't regret it later!" Hearing his affirmation, Vanessa gave a nod and moved to the nearby counter to wrap up the much needed procedures to finalize their divorce with a nonchalant expression on her face making his insides twist in an unsettling feeling but he didn't understand what was wrong with him and kept a poker face. Pretty soon, they signed off the agreement and it was sealed with an official stamp on it, indicating their divorce was complete and they would be strangers from then on! It hardly took five minutes to turn their marriage certificate into a divorce certificate! But Vanessa didn't have the slightest guilt on her face while Austin wasn't really calm as he felt something that belonged to him was taken away abruptly, but he didn't understand what it was! Vanessa elegantly strode away from Austin after she grabbed the divorce certificate, and never once she turned back to look at him, and the reality sunk in his head that from that moment onwards, Vanessa was no longer a part of his life, and their paths would never cross. Well, that was what he wanted all these years, wasn't it? So, when he finally got something he wanted, what was there to dwell on instead of feeling happy! With that, he naturally didn't want to see her either and turned back to go in his own way. In his eyes, Vanessa was probably a scheming bitch who was responsible for his mistress's demise! Anyhow, Vanessa wasn't bothered by it, since it didn't matter what he thought as their relationship had already ended, and they would never have a future together. When Vanessa was on the road looking to hail a taxi, she found Austin Jones's tall frame, and for a second she was astounded to see him still present at the venue. "Wasn't he usually very busy?" She pondered but brushed off her thoughts aside since it was none of her business! As she was in a daze, she heard his sharp tone, "Isabella lost her child because of you. Although we were divorced now, shouldn't you visit the hospital and pay your respect to the unborn baby and apologize?" Listening to his words, Vanessa's blood boiled even though the cold wind was blowing in full force. She had never anticipated hearing those words from him again. But here, he had again proved how wrong she was! She actually thought he might feel pity for her sufferings, but alas, who was she for Austin to even show pity? As the realization dawned on her, she had an urge to laugh at herself for the ironic married life she had led in the past years. Vanessa raised her head and peeped at him with her long eyelashes and let out a soft laugh, "alright. Since I'm held responsible for it, how can I turn my back without paying them a visit?" As she finished her words, he scowled, since he didn't actually understand what she intended to say. With a snort, she continued while tucking her hair strands behind her ear, "also, to show my sincerity, I will give Isabella a big gift before I leave. So, you can rest assured." After she said that, she gave a meaningful glance to him one last time and strode to the other side of the road where a taxi was waiting for her. She quickly hopped into it and stared at him coldly as the car drove past him. Eyeing her leaving, he felt a little irritated while his brows twitched. With quick steps, he leaned on his car and lit up a cigarette while his other hand was tucked in his pocket. Thinking back to the events, he reminisced the day he had married Vanessa, and he never thought of exactly divorcing her all these years. But, now they were indeed divorced just in a flash! Austin wasn't gloomy about their divorce because to him, Vanessa wasn't worthy to be his wife. He always felt she wasn't a match to his standards in any aspect, so he thought this divorce would be for their good. But when his eyes landed on the divorce certificate in his pocket, he felt uncomfortable, and suddenly the taste of the cigarette had become sour, ruining his tastebuds. With a sigh, he threw the cigarette aside and raked his hair through his fingers, and closed his eyes as his heart felt heavy. Shaking his head in annoyance for even thinking like that, he muttered under her breath, "let her go. She was just an eyesore to the eye." ...
