Having feelings for Vanessa?

When David saw the unnerving tension that was developing between Vanessa and Austin, he was perplexed. But when he saw the brave front Vanessa was putting on, he was really tempted to give her a thumbs up! Because many of the famous men couldn't withstand Austin's powerful aura, let alone a woman, who was once so meek and obedient to Austin stood up to him without batting an eyelid! Wow! What an unforgettable scene to the eyes! Seeing the cold man who wasn't even bothered to budge and stood across her with his frosty eyes glaring daggers at her, she was amused and her brows twitched. She couldn't help but let the snort out and queried, "do you need anything else, Mr. Jones?" Hearing her mockery added with her nonchalance made his veins pop out in anger, and he clenched his fists so hard that his knuckles turned white to suppress his fury. Eyeing the pretentious woman in front of him, who was behaving as if she wasn't the one who had just provoked him and riled him up, he just didn't have any words left and his cold gaze roamed across her from top to bottom and turned around while his face was void of any emotion, as he was too lazy to even have a conversation with such a shrewd woman! Fiona who was standing on the side, couldn't keep her calm anymore and yelled, "who asked you to even watch our performance? Hmph" Without bothering about Austin's reaction, Fiona snickered while her eyes narrowed and her fingers were rested on her chin as if she was in deep thought and muttered, "I wonder if there was something wrong with your eyes and ears because you couldn't even enjoy what the whole club had relished! What a bummer!" David silently agreed to her remarks, but he couldn't ditch his best friend from his kinder garden just for such unnecessary people. So, he gave a nod to them and turned around to catch up with Austin. But his steps halted midway when he remembered something and tilted his head. When his eyes landed on Vanessa, he gave a slight smile and mumbled, "Vanessa, I play rock n roll too. Shall I join you in your next play, maybe?" When Fiona heard his words, she had an urge to puke her guts out! "Gosh, did this man has no shame?" She pondered as she reminisced how he treated Vanessa in the past! And seeing him talking as if were once buddies, Fiona's blood boiled and she added, "fuck off. Even a hundred David's couldn't match up to our Vanessa!" When he heard her retort, David felt as if he had heard them somewhere, and in the next second, it struck him, "isn't this the same way how Vanessa was being mocked previously? Though David never openly criticized Vanessa, he never helped her nor retorted those people who made Vanessa a joke back then. He just stood aside and watched with his lips slightly curved upwards when they humiliated Vanessa in socialite gatherings, which means he felt the same, except for the fact that he didn't voice it out! So, when he heard the same words directed at him, he felt Karma was indeed a bitch! He was dumbfounded and licked his lips in embarrassment. With a squint, he added, "I have something to take care of." Vanessa didn't even bother to have a word with him because she knew very well what he was like and moreover, he was the best friend of Austin! So, why should she waste her time and energy on them and destroy her peace? When David moved away, almost immediately, Vanessa went to her band members and got involved with the ongoing chatter, and even let out a few hearty laughs occasionally. David couldn't help but turn around and see her once again before leaving, and the scene he saw made him flabbergasted. Jasper was carefully handing Vanessa different flavored drinks and letting her try new varieties with a gentle smile. "Pfft! How thoughtful of you." David mused and jogged up to Austin who was already out of the King club as if he was almost running away from there. David couldn't keep his mouth shut and inquired with a probing gaze, "You're on the verge of bursting into a sprint. Are you worried you'll be compelled to look back?" As if his words had stuck a needle in his heart, Austin gave a sharp look at David, but David continued as if it wasn't aimed at him with a knowing grin, "also, Vanessa's boyfriend is pretty attentive to her." Hearing his statement, Austin could only think of the man who had wiped Vanessa's dress with tissues and he almost never left her side the whole night! As the realization dawned on him, his lips were pressed into a thin line while his body was emanating a freezing chill, and opened his car door to get the hell away from this damned place. But eyeing the stilled David, he frowned, "what do you want?" "Why don't you join me in having a drink while you're here?" David asked with an expectant gaze, but Austin didn't pay any heed to him and roared the accelerator and almost fled off! Peeping at the car which was going at mind boggling speed, David couldn't help but mutter under his breath, "Is this the Austin I know!" Because Austin was never the type to drive recklessly, but on that day, he saw a different shade in Austin as his eyes gleamed and a realization stuck in his mind, "Austin was having feelings for his ex-wife!" He shook his head and mumbled in astonishment, "What a fascinating timing! Almost instantly, he thought of letting Vanessa know of his finding, but on giving it a second thought, he controlled his urge to spill as he comprehended Vanessa wasn't very pleased with him. On the other hand, Austin was a mess as he felt remorse from the bottom of his heart for coming to the King club that night. To top it off, David irritated him even further by saying about Vanessa's lover and implying that he was having feelings for Vanessa. "Me? Having feelings for Vanessa? Having feelings for Vanessa? Impossible!" He muttered under his breath in disbelief. With that, he was forced to think of how he had picked Vanessa as his wife and he was sure it was because of the accident that occurred one night and he took the responsibility simply because he was missing a wife and his family was pressuring him. Nothing else! But after they led a three years married life, hadn't he had any affection for Vanessa? Didn't it bother him? "Nope!" He mumbled repeatedly as if trying to make himself believe that he didn't have any feelings for Vanessa, but when he reminisced about that man who was so close to Vanessa, he felt rage churning in his insides. Annoyed, he lit up a cigarette and raked his fingers into his silky hair while he stopped his car on the side. After he get down from the car, he leaned on it while staring into the dark sky, which seemed to be perfectly illuminating its reflections on his face. The frenzy Vanessa had put him through was beyond his expectations and he chanted, "we were divorced!" So, it had nothing to do with him if she had a boyfriend or a gigolo! Vanessa was none of his business! He shook his head as if he had just behaved like a fool and started his car after he snubbed the cigarette with his leg, but it felt as if he wanted to choke that man beside Vanessa under his legs instead of a cigarette! ...
