Chapter 40 Climbing the Ranks
The HR representative's words weren't a threat but facts.
Previously, there had been news about how a project manager had contacted another company near the end of his employment with his current company, ready to switch jobs the moment his contract ended.
The manager faced a lawsuit for dereliction of duty, which had led to significant financial harm to the company. The company had done this on purpose to screw over the manager. The case went on for two years.
Even though the manager was deemed not guilty of his charges, all his efforts were wasted, and ultimately, his reputation was ruined for good.

She parted ways with the representative after dinner. When she went to the washroom, she happened to overhear the conversation between two servers outside.
