CHAPTER NINETY TWO – THE PRIVATE EYE
"Mom," Kyle croaked, her voice thick with emotion as she lifted her gaze to meet Madison's. "I... I can't keep doing this. This limbo, this constant waiting and hoping for justice that never seems to come. It's tearing me apart."
Madison felt her heart constrict, her protective instincts kicking into overdrive as she crossed the room in long, purposeful strides, enveloping her daughter in a fierce embrace. "I know, sweetheart, I know," she murmured, her voice laced with soothing reassurance. "But we can't give up, not now. We have to stay strong, for each other and for everything we've built."
Kyle's shoulders trembled as she clung to her mother, her face buried in the comforting warmth of Madison's embrace. "That's not all, Mom," she whispered, her words muffled by the fabric of Madison's blouse. "There's... there's something else I need to tell you."
