Madison offered a weak smile, grateful for the detective's reassurance. As they walked out of the station, the weight of the world seemed to lift a little. Reporting the harassment felt like a step in the right direction, a declaration that they wouldn't be victims.
The following week, their therapist, Dr. Evans, listened intently as they recounted their visit to the police. The comfortable silence of her office offered a stark contrast to the sterile environment of the station.
