CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND NINETY FIVE - WHEN THE DUST SETTLES
As Amelia and Alessandro lounged by the pool at the resort, the warm Caribbean sun caressed their skin. Amelia sipped her frozen margarita, savoring the tangy lime flavor as she watched Alessandro flip through a well-worn paperback.
"You know," Amelia mused, "I'm almost sad our vacation is coming to an end. It's been so peaceful here."
Alessandro lowered his book, a wry smile playing on his lips. "Peaceful? Need I remind you of the crab incident on the beach yesterday?"
Amelia laughed, the sound as light and refreshing as the sea breeze. "Okay, maybe not entirely peaceful. But you have to admit, it's been--"
Her words were cut off by a sudden commotion near the lobby. The peaceful atmosphere shattered like a broken champagne flute, replaced by raised voices and the sound of rapid footsteps.
Amelia and Alessandro exchanged curious glances. "What on earth?" Amelia wondered aloud, sitting up on her lounger.
