Save for a dim lamp, the living room was otherwise dark when Tristan entered.
Meanwhile, I stood by the window, lost in my thoughts as I watched the traffic outside. It was drizzling. Other than the sound of the rain and Tristan's footsteps, it was quiet.
"It's late. Why haven't you gone to bed yet?"
That familiar voice was colder than the rain outside.
I shifted my gaze away, only to see Tristan behind me. Our shadows overlapped, making it seem like he was hugging me.
I turned around fully to face him. "Could you do me a favor?"
He was a little taken aback by my directness, but then I handed him the invitation that Xandra gave me. Tristan frowned at it. "How did you get this?"
I gave him a simple summary of Xandra's visit.
Tristan's expression was icy as he listened. He was probably livid that Jameson had someone tracking me.
"You want me to be your plus one?" he asked mildly.
I nodded.
