Chapter 13 Tension
Over the years, Logan had been the only one in this family who had treated Emery with kindness.
Still, she couldn't shake the strange feeling that crept in. Unable to figure it out, she blamed herself for being ungrateful.
She lowered her eyes to hide her emotions. She said softly, "You're right, Grandpa Logan. It's exactly because of that, so I don't want to trouble you anymore."
Logan looked up at her. "Emmie, are you trying to keep things separate between our families?"
She shook her head. Her voice was heavy as she replied, "It's just that my mom… She's not in a good condition."
She paused, then took a deep breath and continued, "I'd like to stay at the hospital for a while. I want to spend these last few days with her. I also have work to handle, so there's no need to trouble Sebastian to run back and forth for me."
Logan finally understood her intent.
