Chapter 49 Getting Away with It
Maria, enraged by Johnson’s words, slapped him hard again.
"Get out!"
As they parted, Johnson knew that Maria must hate him deeply now.
But he didn’t dare say more.
His memories of Maria were now just fragments of their past.
No matter how close they once were, Maria was now a thing of the past.
He had to focus on being with Catherine.
After leaving the restaurant, Johnson got into the car and angrily snapped at the driver.
"Drive! What’s wrong with you? Didn’t you fill up the tank?"
Meanwhile, Maria stood alone in the room, her eyes closed, silent.
When Lawyer Tom entered the room, he quickly noticed her state and asked, concerned,
"Miss Maria, are you okay?"
Maria nodded.
"Yes, I just need some time alone. You can go."
Maria stood in the room, replaying everything that had happened between her and Johnson. She had naively thought that if Johnson’s memory returned and he didn’t say anything else, he might love her again.
But to her dismay, this was how things turned out
