Chapter 75
Zane rarely contacted me first. I was puzzled as to why he'd suddenly called me twice. I thought about calling him back, but remembering how he had heartlessly kicked me out of the car that morning, I decided not to bother him.
"Hey," a colleague called out to me. "Can you print me two copies of this document, organize it, and bring it back?"
I quickly tossed my phone into a drawer and took the document from my colleague, heading toward the printer. Once I got busy, I completely forgot about Zane's calls.
The afternoon was just as hectic as the morning. Despite being exhausted and my ankle still throbbing, I felt a sense of accomplishment.
As soon as it was time to clock out, my colleagues left in no time, leaving the large office quiet. I decided to rest in my chair for a little longer.
