Chapter 6

Zane abruptly extinguished his cigarette and began to kiss me fiercely. In a haze, our clothes were discarded, and I found myself laid out on the soft bed. As the pain set in, I furrowed my brow, puzzled. What was going on? Hadn't we already had sex that night at the class reunion? Why was it still... Before I could dwell on it, my consciousness began to drift away. I didn't know how long Zane had kept at it, but it seemed like he had endless stamina. When I finally woke up, it was already noon the next day. I heard the sound of water coming from the bathroom. As I dragged my sore body upright, I noticed a bloodstain on the bed. What the hell? Hadn't I lost my virginity to him already? Why was there still blood? A certain possibility crossed my mind, making me frown. Just then, Zane emerged from the bathroom. I awkwardly bit my lip and asked, "Did we actually do anything that night at the reunion?" "No," Zane replied tersely. I nearly choked on my breath. "Then why didn't you clarify with the reporters back then?" Zane glanced at me with indifference. "You and I were caught naked together. How do you expect me to explain that?" "But you could have told me and my family that nothing happened. If that was the case, my family wouldn't have forced you into marrying me, and you wouldn't have had to…" "What now? Are you regretting it?" Zane suddenly leaned closer. His dark eyes glinted with a hint of coldness. I licked my lips, thinking that he should be the one regretting it. After all, he was the one forced to live with my family, humiliated by me, and separated from his old flame. Suddenly, Zane handed me a towel. I was stunned for a moment before hearing him say, "Dry my hair." "Oh, okay..." I quickly took the towel and carefully dried his hair while on my knees. This moment reminded me of the past. Back then, I was always too lazy to dry my hair after a shower. I'd just wrap it in a towel and lie on the bed. Seeing that, he would always insist on drying my hair and using a blow dryer, saying that sleeping with wet hair would give me a headache. I used to find his persistence annoying and would often scold him, but he would patiently endure it, never seeming to hear my harsh words. Thinking back to how gentle and compliant he used to be, it was startling to see how cold and ruthless he was now. I couldn't help but find Zane deeply frightening. Just how scheming was he that he could endure such humiliation and still treat me that way despite despising me so much? Zane put on his shirt. As he adjusted his cufflinks, he told me, "Don't wander around. Stay here and wait for me to come back." I nodded obediently from the bed. As a good lover, my first job was to follow my sugar daddy's instructions. Suddenly, Zane glanced at the bloodstain on the bed. My face flushed with embarrassment as I quickly pulled the covers over it. Zane smirked slightly. It was quite charming. Reflecting on our three years of marriage, he had never smiled like that in front of me. He was always stern and unfeeling, like a wooden plank devoid of emotions. It seemed he had hidden his true self very well. After Zane left, I intended to get some more sleep. After all, the previous night had left me sore, and my legs still ached. But just as I lay down, my phone rang. Seeing who was calling, I immediately sprang from the bed, my weariness forgotten.
