"What are you doing? We're right at the door, and everyone's watching. It would be embarrassing if you walked away now," Channing said with a sly smile. I didn't need to turn around to feel the cold gaze fixed on me. I stiffly turned and saw Zane sitting in the center and staring at me coldly. I gritted my teeth and asked Channing, "Didn't you say you didn't come with Zane?" He chuckled. "I didn't come with him, but he arrived before me." After a pause, he added with a grin. "What's wrong, Ari? When did you start fearing him? I remember you used to be pretty confident in front of him." "Who said she's afraid of him?" Darcy retorted. She then grabbed my hand and said, "Let's go in. We can't let them look down on us." I steeled myself and walked inside. Then, I saw a large, multi-tiered cake on the table. Callie, dressed like a princess with a crown, sat beside Zane. I felt out of place when I realized this was her birthday party. Since I was already here, I couldn't just leave.
