Just as the atmosphere was at its most tense, Isaac suddenly said to Zane, "Alright, tell us. How much money did you pay on behalf of Ari's family? If I hadn't gotten back so late, you wouldn't have had to pay for her."
"Really?" Zane laughed coldly. "Even if I hadn't paid, it still wouldn't be your place to do so."
"Not necessarily." Isaac sounded very confident. "If I had been in the country, Ari would have came to me first."
Would I have asked him for help?
I didn't know.
It was a hypothetical scenario, and there would never be a clear answer.
Zane's expression had grown more sinister.
His long fingers tapped on the edge of the table from time to time. It seemed casual, but there was an eeriness to it.
