Talia couldn't figure it out.
Could Melina and Lyla really be giving up on the group project they had worked so hard on? Or were they just planning to wait until the last minute to ask her to join?

"That's right. The deadline is today. You should remind Melina and Lyla, just in case they forget. They always seem so busy."
"Talia, we all envy you for being friends with Melina. If we'd known she'd marry into the Wentworth family, we would've tried to befriend her earlier. Now it's too awkward to try and cozy up to her. She only hangs out with you and a few others."
Everyone knew that Melina only hung out with Shayla and Lyla, and that Talia was no longer part of that circle. Still, they were polite enough not to point it out.
