When the basement fell completely silent, Toby cautiously peered down through the skylight. Seeing that both Melina and Andrew were asleep, he exhaled a long breath of relief.
Only Andrew knew the full truth of whatever had happened back then. Everyone else who might have known was gone.
Even Toby had only ever heard Andrew briefly mention it in passing. He had no idea how to recreate those events to help Andrew move past them.
Glancing at the small group who had insisted on staying, Toby lowered his voice and spoke firmly, "Let me be clear—no yelling, no sudden noises. You must stay completely silent.
"Andrew doesn't recognize anyone right now—not even Melina. We can't do anything to help right now. All we can do is let things play out and hope for the best. Got it?"
Elliot and the others nodded solemnly.
