Josephine had been staring so intently that she didn't notice she was being rude. "Sorry, I... It's an occupational habit."
Ethan didn't call her out on her obvious excuse and handed her his phone instead. "Help me with navigation."
The screensaver on his phone was a picture of a cat.
What surprised her was that a refined man like him owned a common tabby cat instead of a purebred.
"I used to have a tabby too," she said, unable to help herself. "I had it when I was a kid, but I had to give it away when we moved."
"Really?" he replied, his tone indifferent.
"Cats have long lifespans. If you still think about that cat, you could try looking for it."

She considered the possibility for a moment but quickly shook her head. "Never mind. They've cared for my cat for nine years. I couldn't possibly separate them now."
