Chapter 33
Bernice pivoted, searching for Rudd amidst the throng, but he had vanished. A knot of helplessness tightened in her stomach.
As she continued her quest, a familiar figure flitted across the edge of her vision. She murmured, "Is this another coincidence?"
Bernard, catching her words, followed her gaze. A strikingly charismatic man weaved through the crowd. Bernard squinted, unsure at first. "Is that... Andrew?"
Bernice gave a hesitant nod. Andrew, she noted, was a stark contrast to his usual self. Throughout their three years of marriage, the image of him in an apron, forever stationed in the kitchen or laundry room, was firmly etched in her mind. But now, he radiated an air of sophistication and charm.
Darlene, too, spotted Andrew and let out a cold snort. "That scoundrel! I'll teach him a lesson!"
Before Bernice could react, Darlene was already storming toward Andrew. "You bastard! Did you dress up like a gentleman to seduce rich women again? What a scumbag!"
