Chapter 10

Liliana's pov : I didn't throw a glance at him, I was making espresso as if he didn't even exist. By his words, he seemed like an honest person. He could have waited till tomorrow for saying sorry, coming to my workplace to just apologize wasn't a good idea at all. But it wasn't a bad idea either. "Your espresso, sir! Please take a seat and enjoy the coffee," I bowed a little to make him realize that I was a professional person, and I didn't hear a single word of his bullshit. Sometimes pretending games are necessary. My composure was feeling relieved after hearing that he didn't compare me to other girls, yeah, it hurts me a lot to see how everyone compares me with other girls. I've suffered from the comparison of mine with the world since childhood, I was sick of it. But I was glad to see that someone exists in the world who doesn't compare me to bimbos. Being a sceptical person, I couldn't trust his words so easily despite my heart having a conflict with my mind, the heart was debating with my mind to forgive him. He took the mug of espresso and looked at me with his puppy eyes, oh gosh, his oval-shaped face with impeccable nose, rosy thin lips were giving his face a perfect touch of an angel, I couldn't decide it was rosy or peachy, it was kinda a mixture of both colors which gives it a unique and picturesque vibe. Immaculacy was drifting in his eyes, mildly prominent and deep ocean blue eyes in which I could see sanctity and genuineness very clearly. He lowered his gaze to the coffee, I took a brief note of his not-so-much-broad yet strong and squared broad shoulders, perhaps he needed some more hard work in the gym for perfection, his tall body gave my neck a little pain to look up at his slightly gelled and honey blonde hair. I looked at his face, he looked at my face, our eyes met and locked at each other, after a millisecond my eyes travelled to his eyebrows, conspicuous arched eyebrows were trying to meet each other as he furrowed his brows in hugger-mugger. Maybe he was trying to say something but then, he bit his lips, and huffed, "can you please forgive me? My bad, I accept it but I'm not good at apologizing. I don't want to sound rude but to be honest, it's my first apology, I'm not experienced in this," and his forehead had some parallel lines as a symbol of sincerity. Seeing his honesty, I also decided to be honest with him and stop giving him the silent treatment. So I broke my cold attitude and took a deep breath. "I'm sceptical, I hope you would understand it's not as simple as that. Please, enjoy your espresso! I need to go to other customers to take their orders," I moved to a table where a little girl was sitting with her father. I noted their order on the notepad, the little girl threw a captivating smile at me and murmured, "you look so pretty while smiling, I would like to see your boyfriend's smile, too but I guess he is so rude, I've plenty of friends, just leave him," and she winked. I guffawed at her words. She was a smart and cute girl, I leaned forward and whispered in her ear, "he's not my boyfriend, chatty girl." He was sitting alone in the restaurant, staring at the mug. I was not sure about forgiving him but I didn't like his gloomy face, I wanted to see him smiling. Since I wasn't ready yet to forgive her, I diverted my attention to the work in preparing the orders and serving the customers their food. After ten minutes while giving that little cute girl her hot chocolate, I peeked at his table but he was gone. Poor guy! Why does it matter to him if I forgive him or not? After all, I was just a waitress, a stranger, not even a friend. My hands were doing the work while the mind was busy in its stuff-thinking or perhaps overthinking. My shift was for four hours. I finished my work, bid a goodbye kiss to Mrs. Fennimore. She asked me about the sudden change in my mood, however, the reason could be my periods, too. I took the bus and rushed home, my mom was dressed up in a classy and elegant dress that meant she was invited to a high-society party where ladies will show off their branded and exclusive clothes and accessories. Envy in the hearts and sweet smiles on the countenance. This theory of high-class parties was as simple as Einstein's theory of gravity. "Lily, can you please quit your job? It's so embarrassing to see you working as a waitress when you are Liliana Watson, the only daughter of the Watson family," and for the 1324th time, my mom repeated the same lines. She'll bring this topic at least thrice in a week, and sometimes more than that. "Mom, you are looking so stunning and glamorous in this maroon dress, I bet you'll look great if you would carry a maroon Gucci bag along with your perfect attire, " I knew one thing very well, how to divert the topic when you can't escape from it. "You know what, I was perplexed about the bag if I should carry the matching colored bag with my outfit or cross-matching colored bag, thanks for your suggestion, darling!" And she headed back to her room. I huffed and sat on the sofa to enjoy my victory, I patted my back myself. "Good job, Lia! You are too smart to divert her attention." "Yeah, good job! Lia, you have terrible mood swings. In the morning you were looking pissed off and in the evening, you are looking as cheerful as chirping birds." She smirked and handed over the glass of water to me. "Fiona, darling! I like how much you care about me!" I stood up and hugged her. She also gave me back a warm hug and murmured, "if your mom sees you hugging a servant, she'll be mad at you." She slightly pulled herself back. "I'm taken aback by your intelligence, Fiona! I didn't know you are so good at judging people. Yeah, Queen Victoria will be unpleasant to see but who cares? Whatever you'll do, she will never be satisfied or pleased with you. That's dyed-in-the-wool!" I finished my words in one breath and consumed the water. Fiona chortled and put the glass back in the tray. "I guess you are one hundred percent right. By the way, nice nickname-Queen Victoria! No offence, but she behaves like one," she claimed perfectly. "Well, how do you know Mr. Casano?" I couldn't resist the urge to inquire. Perhaps it was too much to ask about him all of a sudden but curiosity killed the cat so I was dying to know the truth. She narrowed her eyes and gave me a reconnoitering look. "Who? I don't know any Mr. Casano, Lia." I suck at remembering the names of people. "Um, I don't remember his first name, do you remember the guy with whom you exchanged the seat in the bus, huh?" I tried my best to explain though I was conscious since spying on someone was not my job. Her expression changed as soon as I stopped speaking, a big sparking smile appeared on her face "Oh, Jason? So, the great Lia is interested in someone for the very first time, it's time to celebrate, OMG, I can't believe this!" She was overjoyed. "Celebrate? Lily, what did you achieve in your school? How come you shared this with her first, not me?" she tucked her red curl behind her ear, "It's how you should treat your mom, huh? I'm highly disappointed with you this time, you spoiled my mood for the party," she kept complaining until I went to her. She looked at the opposite side of my face when I tried to approach her, "my gorgeous mom, I'm sorry but I haven't achieved anything in school yet, the results haven't been out, we were talking about Fiona's achievement," I peeked at Fiona, Indicated her to come over and help me with that. Eventually, she came to us, "yes, Mrs. Watson, she is right, I won the drawing competition in my school," she gave a tight-lipped smile to us. "As long as it's your matter, I don't have time to listen, you may leave," she told Fiona and then, looked at me, "I'm leaving for the party, your dad will catch me midway. Good night, honey! We'll be late, so don't forget to have dinner," and she hiked to the door. I again collapsed on the sofa and took some long breaths. The vibe of freedom was overwhelming me, "Feeee, we are free! Queen has left for the party," I shouted with joy.
