Chapter 48
Hearing the shout, Layla immediately turned to Mark. "Where's Daisy?"
"She was with Benjamin," he said, but as he looked back, both children were gone.
Layla's heart sank. She bolted toward the courtyard, panic gripping her chest. She ran straight into Benjamin, grabbing his arm. "Where's Daisy?"

Seth arrived just then, his gaze sharp and cold as it landed on Benjamin. "Did you hide Daisy somewhere?"
Seeing Seth's anger, Benjamin didn't dare lie anymore. "I told her we'd play hide-and-seek and left her at the little gazebo."
Layla's face turned pale as ice. Her voice trembled. "The gazebo… It's by the lake. The person who fell into the water must've been Daisy!"
The room fell silent with shock before Seth ran toward the lake.
A small head was barely visible in the water, bobbing as it began to sink. Without hesitation, Seth dove in.
