Chapter 38
Seth collapsed into the chair. His fists were clenched tightly, and his body was trembling uncontrollably.
A voice echoed in his mind, telling him that Layla had lost her dreams because of him. He had abandoned her to save Clarissa, who had lost her stage.
His hands shook as he pulled out a cigarette. He tried to light it, but the lighter refused to work no matter how many times he tried.
Daniel watched him struggle, then lit the cigarette for him and gently patted his shoulder. "Seth, I know this is hard to accept, but the past is done. Instead of drowning in guilt, focus on finding who's behind this and getting justice for Layla."
Seth inhaled deeply, his voice rough as he muttered, "It's my fault. I ruined her."
If it weren't for him, those men wouldn't have gone after Layla. Everyone knew that she was his most trusted secretary, the woman he cared about the most.
For four years, Layla had endured constant targeting, yet each time, she managed to come through unscathed.
