Natalie could probably guess what Margaret was up to.
As she was about to leave the law firm after work, Taylor's call came through again. She swiped to answer.
"I'm here to pick you up," he said.
Natalie was caught off guard and halted in her tracks. "Sorry, I can't go back to Huston Villa with you right now. I have something I need to take care of."
"What's going on?" Taylor pressed in a low voice.
"My mom asked me to handle something for her."
"I'll come with you," he insisted.
She immediately refused, "No need."
"What if I really want to?" he countered.
Natalie couldn't help but chuckle at his persistence. "Mr. Jones, let's be clear—we only have a transactional relationship. I haven't taken your money, and I haven't restricted your freedom. You should respect that."
"I care about you. Offering to drive you where you need to go is my way of respecting you."
"Respect means recognizing my refusal and accepting it gracefully."
