Chapter 265
Taylor's expression was complex as he looked at her remorsefully.
"Nat, I should've picked you up from work that day. It's my fault. The accident was all my fault."
As expected, Natalie didn't respond. So, Taylor continued, "I've been filled with regret these past few days. I wish it had been me in the accident, me lying in the hospital bed. I can't bear to see you suffer like this."
Still, there was no response.
Taylor reached out. Just as his hand was almost touching her, his fingers slowly curled back. He wanted to get closer to her, but he didn't dare to.
Taylor swallowed hard and said again, "Nat, I'll do anything you ask. Just tell me what you want."
Natalie slowly opened her eyes. She stared at the ceiling, not looking at him.
Finally, she uttered her first words to Taylor since waking, "I want a divorce. Is that okay?"
His lips trembled as he struggled to respond. He wanted to argue, to plead, to hold on to her. But he couldn't do any of that.
