Chapter 2: Confession

It has been three days already since Rina had a deal with Lumen and Chay. For this reason, Rina is so nervous when her friends began to remind her of their deal. She had been gathering all her courage to be able to face Lambert and confess all her feelings in front of him but she couldn't understand where all her courage went when she had made a deal with them. 'So, how is it? How's your courtship with Lambert been going?", Lumen teased. 'Hey friend, it's only a confession of her feelings. Isn't it too much for Rina if she had confessed first and she will end up courting Lambert as well? That's too embarrassing.", Chay commented, adding fuel to the fire. 'So… is your boyfriend now?", Lumen teases again while laughing at Rina's nervous reaction. It seems like she hasn't done what she had declared to do during their deal. 'Uh… I still haven't confessed to him yet… because… because it's still class time! I should do it later! Yeah later… during lunch break.", Rina stuttered and sweated a lot. The truth is, she had been trying to confess these past few days, she really want to do it and get done with it already. Most of the time she had waited for him at the entrance before and after class. And sometimes, she even dared to pass by and take a peek at his classroom. She was like his stalker. She is full of confidence but every time she sees him getting near her, she loses all her strength, it seems like she chokes on her own tongue, and her heart beats so loud and fast as if it was about to explode. In the end, she always does nothing but to just stare at him while he passes by her, ending being speechless. 'Just be true to yourself, Rina. Wake up, you are helpless. You can't do it. We know you, you are just all talk. Just give up your feelings for Lambert, okay?", Lumen teased again. 'Friend, you should support her.", Chay laughed, implying her sarcasm. 'I'm 20 years old already and Lambert is already 22! If he doesn't become my boyfriend, I might end up being an old maid! I will let you see… I can confess my feelings to him!", Rina seriously declared. Both Lumen and Chay just rolled their eyes. 'Okay then, later? We are expecting progress with you and Lambert.", Chay eventually said. 'Be sure of it, okay?", Lumen added. Even though it seems like they're supporting Rina, they both know that she wouldn't be able to do what she claims she would do. 'Hey! What's for lunch?", Chay towards Lumen. Lumen opened her lunch box. 'Wow! Flat cake omelet! Love this! Gimme some.", Chay exclaimed happily. 'Sure, help yourself. Hey, wait, wait… where's Rina? Usually, she's the first one to ask for food---', Lumen was cut off with her words when she realized where's Rina at. Both Chay and Lumen looked at each other. 'Oh no!", Lumen said in horror. 'Don't tell me…", Chay wasn't able to finish her sentence as they both understood that they had the same thought. 'We shouldn't eat right now! Come let's go! Hurry! Let's save Rina from this craziness!", Lumen said in worry while cleaning up their table. 'I am not expecting this! I can't believe Rina is going to do it! She'll just embarrass herself!", Chay answered. 'I know that's why we need to go! NOW!", Lumen answered back and they both ran towards Lambert's classroom. Rina is currently standing in front of Lambert's classroom, filling her chest with air so she could exhale all her nervousness about what she is about to do. She has been waiting here for a few minutes already, waiting for Lambert to go outside… and she didn't fail as Lambert is already now in front of her. The man of her dreams whom she had given her heart for three years already is now getting nearer and nearer… and like the usual, she became agitated and in the end, she let Lambert pass by her again without even glancing at her. 'See? We became worried for nothing. She really couldn't do it.", Chay whispered to Lumen. They are currently hiding behind the post near Lambert's classroom to save Rina from embarrassment to what she was planning to do, but they were relieved to see Lambert passes by Rina and her plan didn't work. "Yeah, that's good.", Lumen agreed. "LAMBERT!"; Rina suddenly yelled. Chay and Lumen stared at each other. Lambert stopped walking but he is still facing his back towards Rina. "Oh no!", Chay tried to run towards Rina. 'No… She shouldn't do it!", Lumen prayed as she also ran after Chay. "L-Lambert... Lambert P-Padilla!"; Rina stuttered nervously especially when she noticed that Lambert is still not facing her. He just stands there without looking at her and he might have become impatient when he started walking again away from her. Rina was alarmed with the thought that he would just leave the place without her confessing. This is your last chance, Rina! Do it!, a part of Rina shouted inside her head. 'I… I-I I LIKE YOU, LAMBERT! I REALLY REALLY LIKE YOU… LA-LAMBERT PADILLA", Rina yelled with all her might even though she was still stuttering. She truly hopes Lambert would be able to hear it despite their distance. That is all that matters to her, without realizing that upon doing it, she also caught the attention of everyone there and most of them were also Lambert's classmates, the fast learners! Everyone fell silent… the busy and noisy school campus had suddenly come to a stop. Chay and Lumen both shook their heads. 'I.. I really want to be your girlfriend.", Rina added nervously, forcing to shove the embarrassment she feels. Everyone who heard her dropped their jaws in shock. 'I- I am R-Rina Monte..Cruz…", Rina added again, still stuttering. Because everyone was silent, her words were really clear to hear. Each student was curious how Lambert would handle this thick-faced woman, they were expecting him to reject her in a cruel manner. Everything is still silent, Rina could already hear her heartbeat and it only made her even more nervous. "You? You want to be my girlfriend? Are you kidding me? Huh, girls these days huh, they had become really aggressive when it comes to boys. Such a shame! You must not care about your dignity since you're pushing yourself to a man.", Lambert spoke coldly, finally breaking his silence in a brutal manner for Rina while still facing his back on her, refusing to give her a glance. There are murmurs around them, others gasped in shock. It didn't matter for Rina because was hurt by his words because she is not that kind of girl he is talking about. In fact, she only loved one man the entire time, only him. She wanted to defend herself against his accusations but she couldn't do anything because she is still speechless. 'It seems that you have no good plans in your life, you can't even talk clearly. You keep on stuttering and yet you wanted to be my girlfriend? You must be some special kind of stupid! My answer is no because I hate idiots... like you."; Lambert added coldheartedly. This time he looked at her, putting emphasis on the word idiots, clearly implying her. Lambert's words were comprehensible not only Rina had understood what he meant but also everyone around them who heard his words. The world had become silent once again. Lambert gave Rina a threatening stare, it's as if he was forbidding her to say another word from her stupid mouth. After his menacing glare, he went on his way, walking away from the stupid girl, Rina. When Lambert left, everyone seemed to start talking, whispering with each other. She could hear the murmurs and mocking stared from everyone around her. It was obvious that they were all talking about her scene with Lambert just now. Rina was overwhelmed with her nervousness and she felt her knees getting weak. She felt like she could pass out any moment now. She's hurt. She could still feel the stabbing pain in her heart brought by Lambert's words. "Rina!"; both Lumen and Chay called on as they hurriedly ran towards her. 'That Lambert is so full of himself! He is too much!", Chay commented angrily. 'Yeah right! No considerations at all! Let's go, Rina! You should stop your craziness over that man!", Lumen added angrily while assisting Rina as she could see that their friend is still in shock. However, despite her broken heart, Rina didn't even shed a tear for Lambert the entire day at school. The man that I have loved for three years had rejected me… I even made him angry. Calling me stupid and idiot… by my hero, Lambert!, Dina thought that Dina while trying to make herself fall asleep but she couldn't. Everything that happened that afternoon is still crystal clear on her mind and she couldn't just accept it. Rina cried the whole night, not only because of her rejection but also due to embarrassment and Lambert's hatred for her now.
