Chapter 2
Mason never came back after leaving. Winter sat on the sofa alone until the sky darkened.
Thousands of lights glimmer from outside, and yet she’s the only one who’s deserted and lonely.
Soon, her stomach growled and Winter struggled to stand up from the sofa. As she was about to go to the kitchen to find something to eat, the phone suddenly rang alarmingly.
On the other line, her mother's voice shouted in panic. "Winter, something happened, something bad happened, your dad was taken away by the Disciplinary Inspection Commission!"
"What?" Winter’s hand shook as she held the phone, "Mom, what happened?"
"I don't know. Go and call Mason quickly and let him find a way. Hurry up!"
Winter hung up the phone and hurriedly dialed Mason's phone. The phone rang for a while until it finally connected. Mason's voice came in a cold voice, "What is it?"
"Mason, my dad, something happened to my dad. My mother said he was taken away by the Disciplinary Inspection Commission--"
"So what?" Mason interrupted her lightly, stabbing Winter with cold indifference through the receiver.
She paused, "You have many connection, can you inquire about it?"
"No. Your father is on his own. What can you do even if you ask?"
In an indifferent voice without the slightest bit of emotion, Mason said that it was your father. From his marriage to the present, his always called Winter’s father as Mayor Quinn, and he has never changed it.
Now that tragedy has become her father, was Mason trying to get rid of everything to do with her?
Winter's heart sank to the bottom, and she trembled, "I beg you."
Mason didn’t speak, but a soft voice came from the receiver, "Mason, the food is getting cold!"
And then there were no sound on the other end of the phone. Although only few words were heard, Winter had already guessed who the woman Mason was with.
It was Winter, and Mason was with that Winter.
He filed for divorce just a few hours ago, and not long after, he was already with Winter. This caused Winter to tremble with anger. She grabbed the phone and dialed it, but the other end prompted to turn it off.
Mason turned off his phone because he was afraid that it would disturb him and his sweetheart.
Soon, Winter’s Mother called back as if like a reminder. "How was it? What did Mason say?"
"Mom, I'm thinking of something, Mason is thinking of a way!" Winter had no other way but to lie to try and calm her mother.
Hearing that Mason was thinking of a solution, Winter's mother , "Let Mason think of a solution quickly, and think of a solution quickly."
Winter’s mother was still holding onto fantasies, but Winter's heart sank deeper. Mason refused to answer the phone and had already expressed his stance. What would she do?
No matter what, she must find Mason and ask him to help her father.
Winter called Mason's special assistant, who answered vaguely that she didn't know the whereabouts of the president. Winter had no choice but to go out find him herself.
Mason’s favorite clubs and nightclubs, she searched them all, and still there were no trace of Mason. When she was helpless and desperate, she remembered the voice of Winter she heard when she just called. She said the food was getting cold, so perhaps they were there. Home?
Mason had countless properties in the World A, but there was only one that he has live in for a long time, that is Walterghuanju.
That was the love nest that Mason built for Winter. Winter had once disappeared without a trace before. And Mason often did lived there. Now that Winter came back, it was obviously their must-choose place for reminiscence.
Winter immediately started the car and went straight to Walterghuanju.
The car drove quickly, stopping at Walterghuanju, Winter quickly got out of the car and went straight to ring the doorbell.
With just one click, the door opened suddenly. Winter was wearing home-style clothes and stood behind the door with a smile and looked at her. "This is a bad surprise, isn't it Winter?"
Winter ignored her mockery. "Hellen, is Mason here?"
"Why should I tell you?" Winter sneered, blocking the door.
"Winter, let me in, I have an urgent matter to talk with Mason."
"Urgent? Is it the matter of your father being investigated by the disciplinary inspection? Winter, don't bother, there’s no saving your father! Mason won't help you, you’ve lost his heart!"
Listening to Winter's whistling voice and looking at her mocking smile, Winter's heart sank inch by inch.
It's obvious that Mason had nothing to do with Winter. It was Winter who refused to let him help Tang’s family. She angrily asked, "Hellen, did you do all this? What do you want? "
"I don't want anything, I just want you to start over everything I have experienced before." Winter smiled lightly, "By the way, you probably don't know who reported your father, right?"
"You reported it? I knew you must have reported it!" Winter looked at her angrily.
"You overestimate me, Winter, how can I, a weak woman, have grasp your father’s weakness? Isn’t it Mason who reported Mayor Quinn? You are so occupying the position of his wife and refuse to let it go. He had no choice but to take action first."
"Impossible!"
"How can it be impossible? Winter, think for yourself. Has Mason ever loved you even a little bit? If you didn't shamelessly climb onto his bed, would he have married you? By the way, he hadn’t touch you after marriage, right? No, he only touched you once, that night last month, he was drunk and treated you as me, right?"
Winter's words pierced into Winter's heart like a knife. She was right. Mason had never loved her.
The marriage was forced. And after a three years of marriage, he never touched her. The only time he did was when he was drunk, he regarded her as Winter, and Winter was understood all this, and his sense of shame swept all over his body.
Winter frantically yelled at Winter. "Winter, even if he doesn't love me, so what? I am his legal wife. If I do get divorced one day, you’ll only be the second wife!"
After screaming out this sentence, Winter found that Winter's face suddenly changed in front of her, her eyes were now full of tears, her body was crumbling, and her voice turning into a sob. "How can you say that to me? How can you say that to me?"
Seeing her crystal clear tears rolling down the corners of her eyes, Winter felt something were wrong with. And Mason's cold voice suddenly resounded, "Winter, you’re looking for death!"
