Kristen did not take Jasmine's advice seriously, merely smiling it off. However, Kai noticed Kristen's eyes, once so innocent, seemed distant and cold as she watched the boat carrying Jasmine drift away. She lacked the usual warmth in her expression. "Callie?" Kai called out. "Let's head back. I'm almost done with that shell bracelet. Mr. Tuttle will host our wedding soon." Kristen snapped out of her reverie, quickly regaining her usual cheerful demeanor. "Sure, I'll go along with whatever you have planned." Hand in hand, they walked home, greeted by the rising sun. Jasmine was met by Declan's men as she arrived back at the border coast, where the island chief, Chas Tuttle, saw her off. After a few polite words, Chas was about to leave when a sharp click echoed through the air, followed by the unmistakable sound of guns being cocked.
