CHAPTER 30: TAKE UP YOUR ROLE
Shirley woke up in Drakon's arms the next morning. She was resting on his chest, and his arms were wrapped tightly around her as if he was scared she'd somehow disappear. She turned her head to the angle of his sleeping features and couldn't help but stare at how beautiful he was.
She traced his face with her eyes and committed it to memory. She loved the way his chest rose and fell with each breath he took. She loved the way his lashes fanned his face. She loved how his pink lips were agape as they allowed room for the little air that came through them. He looked so peaceful, like a child, and Shirley couldn't look away. He looked so different when he was asleep than when he was awake.
When he was awake, his eyes were sharp and unblinking, and he had a high sense of focus. His lips were in a thin line, and his forehead was creased with lines of stress. But now, he looked very peaceful, and she couldn't help but wish he'd always be that way.
Shirley rested her head back on his chest
