CHAPTER 136: SHADOWS OF BETRAYAL
The mood was sombre as the group gathered in a secluded grove, the chosen site for their fallen comrade's final resting place. Their faces were filled with grief; Shirley watched the others with a heavy heart, their faces shadowed by loss., as she glanced at the freshly turned earth.
"We honour our brother," Howard said solemnly, his voice breaking the heavy silence. He stood at the head of the grave, his robust frame showing a mix of authority and sorrow. "He fought bravely, and we will remember him."
The werewolves moved with practiced efficiency, following the ancient rites of their kind. Each of them took turns to place a handful of dirt onto the grave, whispering prayers and words of remembrance. Shirley's fingers trembled as she reached into the soil, the cool earth grounding her as she murmured her silent farewell.
"It feels so strange," Zuri whispered beside her, his usually vibrant demeanour dulled with sadness. "He was fine just a day ago."
