CHAPTER 130: QUEST
Shirley suddenly stopped and angled a hand on her forehead as she squinted up at the sky. "It'll be sundown soon," she announced, facing her companions. "We must find a place to rest for the night."
"Who's with the supplies?" One of the men asked, and a slender young man with reddish curls and freckles stepped forward, hurling two bags.
"I didn't bring a lot, milady. But this should be enough for two to three days at least."
Shirley nodded at him with a warm smile before motioning for them to continue walking.
And so, they continued until the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a deep, warm glow over the bush clearing.
They kept on at it, and Shirley could barely even keep up with the conversations floating around her, not because she didn't want to say or contribute to their harmless banters but because she couldn't. Her mind was far more occupied by fear and worry.
She suddenly stopped when they reached a secluded meadow surrounded by dense foliage and heavy, sturdy rocks.
