The next morning, Helen and Chandler were jolted awake by a loud knock on their bedroom door.
"Sir, Mr. Vanderpool insists he needs to see Ms. Terzian. He says he won't leave without meeting her!" the housekeeper called out.
With no choice left, Helen and Chandler dragged their sleep-deprived selves downstairs to face the unexpected guest.
"Hello, Mr. Vanderpool," Helen said, stretching lazily. "What brings you here so early in the morning?"
"Good morning, Ms. Terzian. I'm here to take you with me; Prince Carl wants to see you," Thorley replied, his smug expression making him seem rather insufferable.
"What's this about?" Chandler asked dully, still feeling the effects of last night's exhaustion.
"I'm afraid that's something I can't disclose right now." Thorley smirked, raising his eyebrows as if he held all the cards. "Ms. Terzian will find out once she's there."
