"I can only hope my daughter isn't a coward who only knows how to run away."
With those words, Dominic turned and walked away without a backward glance.
Abigail opened her mouth to explain, but the words caught in her throat. With a heavy sigh, she climbed out of bed.
20 minutes later, she made her way down the staircase. At the top, she noticed that Dominic and Connie had already departed.
The only person in the living room was a man in a gray suit, sitting on the couch, looking as if he had been waiting for quite a while.
Reluctantly, Abigail descended the stairs and approached him from behind the sofa. "Sorry to keep you waiting," she said with a polite smile.
Her gaze darted nervously around the room, deliberately avoiding his eyes.
"Gail, do you remember me?"
