Chandler exchanged a subtle glance with Helen before following Maddie out of the classroom, leaving her alone with the three children.
Sienna felt a bit down after embarrassing herself in front of Chandler. She took Helen's hand and said, "Mommy, Cholonese is really hard, and math is so different from what I learned before—"
"It's okay, Nana. You're still young; I'm sure you'll get the hang of it soon," Helen said gently. Turning to Lincoln, she asked, "Were you struggling because you're still adjusting to being back home?"
"No, not at all," Lincoln replied earnestly. "I just thought Nana wouldn't score very high, so I didn't answer many questions. I wanted to stay in the same class with her. If we got separated, I wouldn't be able to take care of her."
"That's not true!" Sienna protested. "Just because I don't understand doesn't mean I'm dumb!"
"Alright, alright, I'm the dumb one, okay?" Lincoln said with a grin, his eyes filled with affection.
