Chapter 783
Charles furrowed his brows, exhaled the smoke with impatience, and said, "Just leave."
"Goodbye," Elis replied softly, her eyes reflecting disappointment. She turned and walked away.
Once she reached the ground floor, she realized the area was quite remote. The quiet road seemed deserted, making it impossible to catch a cab.
She stood in the yard for a moment, looking up at the third floor where she saw a shadowy figure at the window. The distance and the dim light made it hard to discern the expression, but she imagined it was probably one of annoyance.
As expected, a few seconds later, Charles stubbed out his cigarette and disappeared from view.
Deciding not to ask him for help again, Elis pressed her lips together and dragged her suitcase along the path out of the estate.
Just as she was about to contact Tiffany, she heard the sound of a car approaching from behind. The headlights were blinding, so she raised her hand to shield her eyes until the car came to a stop beside her.
